Kuel Aguer Kuel, the leader of the People’s Coalition for Civil Action (PCCA) delegation in the Nairobi peace talks, expressed disappointment at their exclusion from sessions of the Tumaini Initiative. PCCA, a civil rights movement demanding political change in South Sudan, raised concerns about being left out of direct talks between the government and opposition.
Despite their exclusion, Kuel stated they would continue engaging the mediation team to understand the decision. After deliberations, PCCA was finally granted participation in the upcoming talks. Emphasizing the importance of citizen interests over personal power, Kuel highlighted the need for a credible mediation process to achieve a lasting peace agreement. He warned that failure to seize this opportunity could leave South Sudan isolated like Yemen or Libya.
