Search of Ilan Shor’s office in Moldova

Police conducted searches in the office of Ilan Shor, leader of the opposition party bloc “Victory” in Comrat, as announced by the National Anti-Corruption Center of Moldova. The search was related to allegations of illegal financing of a political party, money laundering, and falsification of financial reports, leading to the detention of 6 suspects.

Following tensions between Chisinau and Gagauzia, representative Eugenia Gutsul of the Shor party won the election for the head of the autonomy. Moldovan President Maia Sandu claimed the election had violations, prompting police to search the Gagauz Central Election Commission. Despite this, the Gagauz parliament supported Gutsul, and she assumed office after the Comrat Court of Appeal approved the election results. However, Sandu did not appoint her to the Moldovan government as required by law.
