Russian forces successfully destroyed 38 Ukrainian drones in regions near the border, the Defense Ministry of Moscow reported. The air defense systems intercepted the drones over various regions including Belgorod, Kursk, Voronezh, Rostov, and Astrakhan.
Astrakhan Governor Igor Babushkin confirmed Ukraine’s attempt to launch a massive drone attack in the region, emphasizing that the assault was effectively repelled.
Both Ukraine and Russia have extensively utilized drones, including self-detonating craft with long ranges, since the conflict began in February 2022.
Ukraine has increased attacks on Russian territory, targeting energy sites and border towns and villages, leading to escalated tensions. Russian President Vladimir Putin initiated a land offensive in Ukraine’s northeastern Kharkiv region to create a buffer zone and secure the border from shelling.
