The assassination of Counter-Terrorism Department DSP Ali Raza in Karachi has raised significant challenges for investigators. The outlawed Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) claimed responsibility for the killing, but forensic analysis revealed that the murder weapon had not been used in any previous crime. Despite media reports linking another group, Al-Fajr, to the assassination, authorities dismissed it as a social media fabrication.
Investigators are now focusing on obtaining CCTV footage to identify the assailants who shot DSP Raza. The spent bullet casings did not match any weapon in police records, posing a new obstacle in the case. Meanwhile, funeral prayers were held for the slain officer at the Central Police Office, attended by dignitaries and family members.
Home Minister Zia Lanjar stated that various angles, including sectarian motives and enmity with criminal groups, are being explored in the investigation. As the police prepare for heightened security during Muharram, the focus remains on delivering justice for DSP Raza’s assassination.
