In a recent announcement, Minister of Health Firas Hawari shared that the decision to cancel the 2024 medical wage tariff regulation and revert to the 2008 regulation was made in the best interest of citizens’ health security. The ministry discovered errors in the new regulations, which led to the decision to go back to the 2008 regulations until a new agreement can be reached. The proposed new agreement suggests a gradual 20 percent increase in doctors’ wages over three years.
Hawari highlighted the importance of finding a solution that satisfies citizens while ensuring fair compensation for doctors and medical workers. The ministry is open to further negotiations with the Jordan Medical Association to reach a consensus that benefits everyone. Hawari also emphasized the need to review and rectify errors in the regulations to prioritize citizens’ interests and health.
The government is working on a plan for comprehensive health coverage through primary healthcare to protect citizens’ health and offer alternative medical options.
