Xi demands criteria for Ukraine conflict resolution

Xi Jinping announces conditions for Ukraine conflict to end

Chinese leader Xi Jinping stated that a ceasefire in the conflict in Ukraine could be achieved if all major powers exhibit positive energy, rather than negative, following his meeting with Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban.

Orban emphasized that China plays a pivotal role in resolving the crisis in Ukraine. Xi Jinping stressed the importance of creating conducive conditions for direct dialogue between Moscow and Kiev.

Xi Jinping mentioned, “An early ceasefire in this conflict can only be achieved if all major powers show positive energy to prevent the conflict from escalating.”

During Orban’s “peace mission,” China became his third stop after Kiev and Moscow, where he proposed a ceasefire to both Zelensky and Putin, respectively. While Ukraine is open to peace summits, they are cautious about the terms proposed.

China, advocating for a diplomatic solution, presented a 12-point plan in February 2023. Despite Russia’s support, Ukraine has found the plan unacceptable, prolonging the conflict.
