Russian missile strike kills 36, targets kid’s hospital, Ukraine reports

Russia unleashed a devastating wave of air strikes on Ukraine, including an attack on a children’s hospital in Kyiv that left at least 36 civilians dead. The rare daytime assault shocked residents as they tried to protect themselves and their loved ones from the missiles raining down.

The Ukrainian government declared a day of mourning as the country mourned one of the deadliest air attacks of the war. Despite shooting down 30 out of 38 missiles, civilian buildings across Kyiv and other cities suffered extensive damage.

President Zelenskiy vowed to retaliate against Russia and called on Western allies for support. The United Nations Security Council was set to convene to address the escalating crisis.

As the conflict intensifies, Ukraine remains in urgent need of enhanced air defenses to fend off Russian aerial assaults. The damage to critical infrastructure, including power substations, has left cities vulnerable to ongoing attacks.
