Protesters demand removal of STC official in Aden

Popular Demonstration in Aden Demands Expulsion of STC Official

A popular demonstration took place in the city of Aden, under the control of the Saudi-led coalition in southern Yemen, with protestors demanding the expulsion of an official loyal to the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC).

Demonstrators in Al-Tawahi district raised banners demanding the dismissal of Wajdi Alwan Al-Shaabi, affiliated with the STC, for mismanagement. They voiced their concerns about the exploitation of the region’s resources for personal gain and called for urgent measures against Al-Shaabi.

Aden and other southern provinces are facing a decline in basic services, including electricity and water, and soaring prices due to the local currency’s depreciation against foreign currencies. The US dollar exchange rate has exceeded 1,897 riyals, causing further economic strain on the region.

This demonstration highlights the growing frustrations of the people in Aden and the need for immediate action to address the worsening conditions in the city and surrounding areas.
