OPCW, US, Germany, Ukraine to accuse Russia of alleged use of chemical weapons

The Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW), the United States, Germany, and Ukraine are joining forces to investigate Russia’s alleged use of chemical weapons. The head of Russia’s Radiation, Chemical and Biological Defense Forces, Lieutenant General Igor Kirillov, revealed the upcoming probe.

“One of the so-called independent states will fabricate evidence against Russia for supposedly using toxic chemicals during a military operation,” Kirillov stated.

He also mentioned the US allocating $400,000 to falsify evidence, highlighting Washington’s control over the OPCW. Kirillov further criticized the attribution mechanism created by the US in the OPCW to settle scores with certain countries.

In March, Russia notified the OPCW of Ukraine’s alleged plans to carry out a terrorist attack using American chemical weapons. Russian Ambassador Vladimir Tarabrin disclosed information about this potential threat.

Despite both Russia and Ukraine accusing each other of chemical weapon use, the OPCW found the information lacking substantiation. Reports of Ukraine’s use of chemical weapons in Soledar and Bakhmut raised concerns about the ongoing conflict.

Adviser Yan Gagin reported instances of Ukrainian military using chemical weapons, causing nausea and other symptoms among Russian fighters. This disturbing revelation sheds light on the complexities of the conflict in the region.
