NEPAD Director: Sisi’s Tremendous Efforts Support African Development

The Executive Director of AUDA-NEPAD, Nardos Bekele-Thomas, praised President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi’s dedication to supporting African development during his leadership of NEPAD. In an interview at the 4th Aswan Forum for Sustainable Peace and Development, she highlighted the importance of Sisi’s role in overseeing the committee’s ten-year plan to improve infrastructure, intra-African trade, and value chains.

Thomas emphasized NEPAD’s crucial role in implementing the development agenda “Africa 2063”, which aims to achieve prosperity and stability by 2063. The agency’s strategy is to assist African countries in realizing this vision and addressing challenges through peacebuilding and development programs.

She noted the significance of the forum as a platform for exchanging ideas and discussing Africa’s issues openly. A memorandum of understanding was signed with the Cairo International Center for Conflict Resolution to enhance cooperation in promoting peace and development.
