Makinde presents new Oyo monarch with staff of office

Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, recently presented the staff of office and instrument of office to the newly crowned Elempe of Tapa, Oba Titiloye Oyekanmi, at a ceremony held at the Elempale Community High School. Represented by his Deputy, Bayo Lawal, Makinde highlighted the importance of the Elempe in promoting unity, peace, and development in the community. He praised the selection process that led to Oba Oyekanmi’s ascension to the throne, emphasizing tradition, transparency, and the rule of law.

Makinde urged the new monarch to collaborate with the government on key issues like security and economic development, addressing concerns such as kidnapping and land grabbing. He emphasized the qualities of wisdom, compassion, and integrity in leadership, thanking the community for their support during the selection process.

In his acceptance speech, Oba Oyekanmi expressed gratitude to God and Makinde, promising development, peace, and growth for Tapa Land. The state Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Ademola Ojo, hailed the event as a pivotal moment ushering in a new era under the revered Oba’s reign.
