Revolutionizing Kazakhstan’s Water Industry: Ministry Announces Comprehensive Plan
The Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation in Kazakhstan is embarking on a transformative journey to secure the nation’s water resources and combat potential water scarcity issues. A comprehensive plan spanning from 2024 to 2028 is set to reshape the water sector.
The ambitious plan includes the construction of new reservoirs, renovation of existing ones, and upgrades to irrigation canals, covering over 14,000 kilometers. With a goal to store an additional 2,603.9 million cubic meters of water and expand irrigated areas, the ministry aims to ensure reliable water supply and mitigate risks.
In addition, the ministry is focusing on enhancing water resource efficiency by exploring options for territorial redistribution of water resources in water-deficient regions. The implementation of the plan aligns with the country’s vision for water resource management, as outlined in the Concept of Development for 2024-2030.
