The Kano State Government is taking a firm stand against any promotion of sexual agendas that go against moral and religious standards. This decision was made in response to alleged claims that LGBTQ rights were included in a partnership agreement Nigeria signed. However, the Federal Government has denied these claims, stating that the agreement is in the country’s best interest.
In light of this, Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has instructed the Hisbah Board to crack down on any advocacy or promotion of activities that contradict the values of the people of Kano. Commissioner for Information, Baba Halilu Dantiye, emphasized that the government will not tolerate any activities supporting LGBTQ rights.
The majority of Kano’s population follows the Muslim faith, which prohibits such practices. Governor Yusuf has made it clear that there is no place for LGBTQ activities in the state and has directed Hisbah to investigate and take appropriate legal action against any offenders.
