The Houthi leader has accused the US of ‘entangling’ Saudi Arabia in attempts to financially cripple Houthi-run Yemen. Recently, the media of the Houthi rebels shared a video showcasing aerial drone footage and coordinates of key airports and ports in Saudi Arabia as a warning. In response, Houthi leader Abdul Malik al-Houthi directly addressed Saudi Arabia, urging them to stop conspiring against Yemen for stability.
Al-Houthi criticized the US for pressuring Saudi Arabia to take aggressive steps, potentially leading to economic destruction in Houthi-controlled Yemen. The ongoing struggle between the Houthi-run central bank and the government-run one has worsened Yemen’s already dire economic situation.
Meanwhile, recent talks between the government and Houthis in Muscat ended without striking a new prisoner exchange deal. Saudi Arabia has been involved in a war with the Houthis since 2015, causing widespread devastation in Yemen and leading to one of the worst humanitarian crises globally.
Despite ongoing negotiations, tensions between the parties persist without a formal truce in place.
