Hamas reports senior Gaza official killed in airstrike

CNN

An Israeli airstrike in Gaza City resulted in the death of Ehab al-Ghussein, a senior official in the Hamas-run government, as confirmed by the organization. Al-Ghussein, who served as the Deputy Minister of Labor, was one of four individuals killed in the attack on the Holy Family School in Gaza City.

Al-Ghussein, aged 45, held key positions in Gaza’s government and had previously lost his sister and wife in an earlier Israeli airstrike. The Israeli military claimed the airstrikes were targeted at terrorists operating within the school complex, emphasizing steps taken to minimize civilian harm through precise surveillance and intelligence.

Following this incident, another Israeli attack on a school in Gaza led to the deaths of at least 16 Palestinians and injured 50 others, sparking further controversy and condemnation. UNRWA’s Al-Jaouni school, hosting displaced individuals, was hit in the assault, with conflicting reports from the Palestinian Ministry of Health and Israeli military.
