France’s recent parliamentary election results have surprised all three political camps in the country, with the left, the far-right, and the center feeling victorious. The far-right National Rally party emerged in third place, despite RN party leader Jordan Bardella’s complaints about an “unnatural” alliance hindering their rise to power.
On the other hand, the leftist New Popular Front coalition has become the strongest group in the French National Assembly, with leftist France Unbowed party leader Jean-Luc Melenchon claiming the right to form a new government. President Emmanuel Macron’s centrists came in second place, facing difficulties in forming a new government.
The election results have led to a shift in voters’ attention towards the left and away from the extreme right. Many European capitals have expressed relief over the results, with Poland’s Prime Minister Donald Tusk and Spain’s Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez acknowledging the rejection of the far-right in Europe.
While the future of France’s government remains uncertain, cooperation ties between France and Germany are expected to remain strong. President Macron’s international standing, however, may be put to the test in upcoming events like the NATO summit in Washington D.C.\
