Colombian President Petro organized a concert in solidarity with Palestine to raise awareness about the ongoing genocide. Musicians from various Latin American countries performed at Bolivar Square in Bogota, where a giant Palestinian flag with the message “Stop the Genocide” was displayed. The Congress in Bogota also showed support by hanging a massive Palestine flag.
Senator Maria José Pizarro Rodriguez emphasized the importance of defending humanity and opposing genocide. Under President Petro’s leadership, Colombia has shifted foreign policy to strongly support Palestine, even expelling the Israeli ambassador. The country has stopped arms imports and coal exports from Israel, while providing medical care for Palestinian children and families.
Despite these efforts, the UN reports that ongoing conflict has led to thousands of deaths and injuries in Gaza, with severe shortages of fuel, water, and food. The situation remains critical, with thousands of displaced people facing dire living conditions.
The concert and solidarity measures aim to bring attention to the humanitarian crisis in Palestine and generate support for those affected by the conflict.
