Ukrainian air defense successfully intercepted the majority of Russian strike drones launched in overnight attacks on July 5-6. Despite this, in the Sumy region, the Russians managed to target and damage energy infrastructure, resulting in power outages in several areas, as confirmed by Ukrainian officials.
The Sumy Military Administration reported on Telegram that emergency repair services are working to restore the electricity supply and are assessing the full extent of the damage caused by the enemy attack.
The Ukrainian Air Force revealed that they were able to shoot down 24 out of 27 Iranian-made Shahed kamikaze drones over multiple regions in Ukraine. These drones were launched from Russian-occupied Crimea and the Kursk region in Russia, according to Ukrainian Air Force Commander Mykola Oleshchuk.
The successful defense operation involved various military units, including mobile fire groups, anti-aircraft missile units, and electronic warfare units, showcasing the coordinated effort to repel the air attack.
