President Bola Tinubu expressed concerns over loopholes being exploited in the system by individuals entrusted with the nation’s trust, despite ongoing reforms in the public service. Represented by Vice President Kashim Shettima at the Nigeria Excellence Awards in Public Service, Tinubu’s message emphasized the importance of public servants living up to their roles as custodians of public trust.
He urged Nigerian public servants to resist elements sabotaging the country and underscored the critical role of recognizing and rewarding excellence in the public service. Tinubu highlighted the need for a culture of accountability and motivation to drive progress in the nation’s workforce.
The event, organized by a private sector initiative in collaboration with the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, recognized outstanding individuals and organizations in the public service. Various dignitaries, including former leaders and current government officials, were honored for their contributions to nation-building and sector-specific interventions.
