Exploring the present and future of the Turkic world was the focal point of discussions among participants from member and observer countries of the Organization of Turkic States (TDT) at a recent forum in Istanbul. The forum, organized in collaboration with Türkiye’s Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TIKA) and the Diplomacy Foundation, addressed various pressing issues, including the situation in Northern Cyprus.
Director Oguzhan Bilgin emphasized the importance of the TDT in times of global crisis, highlighting its role as a global peacemaker. He outlined the challenges of economic integration and institutionalization facing the organization.
Chairperson Aygun Attar stressed the significance of unity among Turkic states and anticipated positive developments regarding the recognition of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) within the TDT framework. The role of think tanks in shaping policy decisions was underscored.
Additionally, insights were shared on the common heritage and shared values among Turkic states, emphasizing the need for collective action and a shared vision for the future. The bridging role of Hungary between Europe and the Turkic world was highlighted as a valuable contribution.
