Poland Inks Deal to Enhance PILICA+ Air Defense Systems

Poland’s defense capabilities received a significant boost on July 4, 2024, with the signing of a new agreement for the PILICA+ anti-aircraft missile-artillery systems. Valued at 1.4 billion PLN gross, the contract includes logistical support, training packages, and a Laboratory Equipment suite for twenty-one PILICA+ Rocket-Artillery Systems (RAS) to be delivered by 2029.

The PILICA+ systems will be crucial for the Polish Air Force’s Air Defense Forces, providing primary anti-aircraft defense and enhancing the defense of the WISŁA missile systems. Equipped with short-range missile launchers, CAMM missiles, BYSTRA radars, and communication subsystems, the PILICA+ RAS will also be upgraded to combat unmanned aerial vehicles.

As part of its commitment to national defense, Poland plans to increase its military budget in 2025 to address evolving security challenges. The new PILICA+ systems showcase Poland’s dedication to ensuring the safety and security of its citizens in the face of potential threats.
