Opinion: Who really owns the GNU? – Bhekisisa Mncube

Dear President Cyril Ramaphosa,

In a satirical column, Bhekisisa Mncube applauds your negotiation skills in forming a diverse Government of National Unity (GNU) cabinet. Despite challenges, you managed to include various ideologies and voices, creating a true reflection of our Rainbow Nation.

The cabinet consists of 32 ministers and 43 deputy ministers, representing different regions, races, genders, and political persuasions. It includes parties beyond the ANC and DA, showcasing a broad spectrum of beliefs.

With unique characters like a former bank robber turned Minister of Sport and a socialist Finance Minister, the cabinet promises interesting dynamics. The question remains whether this diverse group can work harmoniously towards a common goal.

As the journey of the GNU cabinet unfolds, we wonder if they will navigate smoothly to the “Promised Land” of progress and prosperity, or be stuck in bureaucratic hurdles.

Wouldn’t it be fascinating to be a fly on the wall in the cabinet room?

– Bhekisisa Mncube
