Foreign dignitaries have congratulated Pezeshkian on his recent victory in the Iranian presidential election. Leaders from Russia, Syria, Azerbaijan, Iraq, Pakistan, Venezuela, and others have all extended their best wishes to the president-elect.
Pezeshkian received over 16 million votes in the runoff election, securing 53.66% of the ballots. His opponent, Saeed Jalili, garnered 44.34% of the votes.
A former physician, Pezeshkian has represented Tabriz in the Iranian Parliament for five terms. He has also held the position of deputy Parliament speaker and served as Health Minister during Khatami’s presidency.
At 69 years old, the president-elect will lead the 14th administration in Iran since the Islamic Revolution. His term will last for four years, during which he is expected to address important national and international issues.
