Experts collaborate for Nigeria’s economic development

In a recent keynote address, Mr Taiwo Oyedele emphasized the need for greater collaboration between citizens and the government to drive Nigeria’s economic development. The event, hosted by the Lagos Chapter of the Nigerian Institute of Quantity Surveyors, focused on the theme of “Nigeria’s Economic Policies: Effects, Challenges, and Strategies for Sustainable Economic Stability.”

Oyedele highlighted the importance of fiscal and monetary policies and addressed the issue of insufficient finances in running the nation, despite a high budget. The current budget is not enough to cover expenses, including the proposed minimum wage. To combat these challenges, speakers at the event suggested strategies such as enhancing revenue generation, reviewing the cost of governance, and investing in infrastructure and alternative energy sources.

The event also called for addressing policy mistakes, improving security, and curbing corruption to achieve economic stability. Dr Paul Alaje stressed the importance of utilizing local resources and combatting unemployment, while other speakers advocated for fair taxation, improved power supply, and quality healthcare delivery to overcome economic hurdles in Nigeria.
