Afenifere, a Pan-Yoruba sociocultural and socio-political organisation, has called on the federal government to utilize modern technology in the fight against kidnapping, banditry, attacks on security personnel, and ongoing herders-farmers clashes. The group expressed these concerns in response to the recent surge in these criminal activities across the country.
The spokesperson for Afenifere, Jare Ajayi, emphasized the importance of enforcing laws to address these challenges, citing recent incidents like the abduction of a lecturer’s children and the killing of another lecturer in Katsina State. The group highlighted the need for immediate government action to enhance national security and protect vulnerable communities.
Afenifere stressed the urgency for a comprehensive review of the country’s security infrastructure and proposed measures such as the establishment of state and local government police, community engagement, and the deployment of advanced technologies like drones for surveillance.
The group called for a concerted effort to end the reign of terror and restore peace and stability to the country, urging the government to take proactive steps to combat criminal activities effectively.
