In a recent incident, the train plying the Warri-Itakpe route derailed in Delta state, but thankfully, no casualties were reported. The Police Command in Delta, through SP Bright Edafe, confirmed the incident to newsmen in Warri, reassuring the public that no deaths occurred.
According to a passenger on board who witnessed the event near Abraka, the train was en route from Itakpe to Ujevwu when a coach derailed close to the Abraka train station. The incident caused a delay in the journey, with some passengers sustaining minor injuries from the ensuing chaos.
Despite the disruption, the quick response by authorities ensured no loss of life in the accident. The distance between Abraka and Ujevwu Terminal station is normally a 20-minute ride, emphasizing the significance of safety measures in train operations.
