Turkish security forces successfully “neutralized” nine PKK terrorists in northern Iraq, as confirmed by the country’s National Defense Ministry. The operation took place in the Operation Claw-Lock zone, where the Turkish Armed Forces identified and dealt with the terrorists.
The term “neutralize” in this context can mean the terrorists either surrendered, were killed, or captured by the authorities. This successful mission is part of Türkiye’s ongoing efforts to combat terrorism, with the PKK being recognized as a terrorist organization by Türkiye, the US, and EU.
Over the past four decades, the PKK has been responsible for numerous attacks, resulting in the tragic loss of over 40,000 lives, including innocent women, children, and infants. Northern Iraq serves as a common hideout for these terrorists, who often use it as a base to plan attacks in Türkiye.
Operation Claw-Lock, initiated in 2022, specifically targets PKK hideouts in regions like Metina, Zap, and Avasin-Basyan, reinforcing Türkiye’s commitment to eliminating terrorism and ensuring the safety of its citizens.
