Niki Kerameus, the new labor minister, is focusing on creating well-paid jobs, reducing employer social security contributions, and enforcing labor legislation. She plans to initiate a dialogue with social partners to establish a new “social labor agreement.” Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis visited the Ministry of Labor and Social Security to discuss these priorities, including increasing the minimum wage to €950 and the average to €1,500 by 2027.

Kerameus, along with her deputy Kostas Karagounis, aims to implement specific interventions like increasing incomes and universalizing the digital labor card. Deputy Minister Panos Tsakloglou and General Secretary Nikos Milapidis have prepared proposals for challenging social security issues such as reforming insurance and benefits regulations and improving pension funds.

The government plans to gradually reduce social security contributions, with the first decrease scheduled for 2025. These initiatives are expected to benefit both employees and employers, addressing critical issues that impact citizens’ daily lives.
