The EU officials condemned Orban’s visit to Moscow, stressing that he did not have the mandate to represent the bloc in discussions with Putin. The EU has maintained a firm stance against Russia’s actions in Ukraine and imposed multiple rounds of sanctions.
The Ukrainian government also disapproved of the meeting, emphasizing that they had no involvement in its organization. Orban’s visit occurred shortly after Hungary assumed the EU presidency, raising concerns about his alignment with Moscow.
