Kazakhstan poised to become reliable supplier of essential metals in 80 characters

ASTANA, Kazakhstan, July 5. Kazakhstan aims to become a reliable supplier of critical metals, according to the Minister of Industry and Construction, Kanat Sharlapaev. During a meeting with Turkish Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Alparslan Bayraktar, Sharlapaev expressed Kazakhstan’s readiness to support the transition to green energy by supplying critical metals.

Kazakhstan and Turkey have a strong history of friendly relations and are exploring opportunities for cooperation in rare minerals, rare earth elements, and defense industry. The parties discussed the potential for joint projects and the Kazakh government’s support for Turkish companies.

In 2023, the trade turnover between Kazakhstan and Turkey was $6 billion, with a slight decrease from the previous year. Kazakhstan’s exports to Turkey decreased by 16.4%, while imports from Turkey increased by 27% compared to 2022. Despite these fluctuations, both countries are committed to strengthening their economic ties.
