Election Outreach: Government Efforts to Engage Iranian Diaspora
The Iranian government is prioritizing the involvement of overseas Iranians in the upcoming presidential election, aiming to strengthen ties between the diaspora and their homeland. Abdullah Sohrabi, Director-General of the High Council of Iranians Affairs Abroad, shared details of the initiatives in a recent interview with Press TV.
An increase of over 90 ballot boxes has been implemented, totaling 350 boxes spread across 89 countries and 138 constituencies. This expansion demonstrates the government’s commitment to inclusivity and the value of every vote, aligning with the sentiments of Ayatollah Khamenei.
Efforts have also been made to protect Iranian voting rights from interference by anti-Iran elements. A legal committee has been formed to address any aggression and uphold the rights of Iranians abroad.
Sohrabi emphasized the importance of the Iranian diaspora, viewed as a national asset. Despite obstacles, such as challenges in Canada and Bahrain, Iranians have shown determination to participate in the election. The government, under the leadership of President Raisi and late Foreign Minister Amir-Abdollahian, is committed to supporting Iranians globally in various aspects, including economic, cultural, and societal matters.
