Global IndiaAI Summit: Govt’s Mission for AI Collaboration & Addressing Advancements, Threats

The ‘Global IndiaAI Summit’ hosted by the government on July 3-4, 2024, at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi brought together over 12,000 experts to drive advancements in Artificial Intelligence (AI) development. Discussions revolved around crucial aspects like compute capacity, foundational models, datasets, application development, skills, and AI financing.

The event was inaugurated by Union Minister for Electronics & IT, Ashwini Vaishnaw, who outlined plans for AI innovation, including procuring 10,000 GPUs and launching the Rs 10,000 crore India AI Mission. Amitabh Kant stressed the government’s significant budget allocation for AI development, highlighting India’s growth in AI talent and investments.

Srinivas Narayanan and Joyce Poan discussed AI’s role in societal growth and ethical governance, emphasizing responsible AI usage. Abhishek Singh underscored the power of voice-enabled AI applications in bridging digital gaps.

The summit also saw the GPAI Ministerial Council meeting discussing global AI collaboration and addressing risks while harnessing AI’s transformative potential.
