Delhi HC orders removal of post alleging centipede in Amul ice cream tub

Delhi High Court Directs Customer to Remove Social Media Post Alleging Insect in Amul Ice Cream

The Delhi High Court has ruled in favor of Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation, the company behind the Amul brand, directing a Noida-resident to take down social media posts claiming she found a centipede in a tub of Amul ice cream bought through an instant delivery app.

The court ordered the customer, Deepa Devi, to remove the posts and refrain from posting similar content on social media platforms. The company argued that the claim was false and impossible due to rigorous quality checks in place during production at their ISO certified plants.

Represented by senior advocate Sunil Dalal and lawyer Abhishek Singh, the company offered to conduct a forensic examination to prove the insect’s absence before packaging. The court emphasized the importance of cooperation from customers in such cases to ensure product integrity.

The ruling serves as a reminder of the responsibilities of social media users and the importance of factual accuracy in online content.
