Black Sea Route via Armenia and Georgia Saves 2 Days

Iran’s ambassador to Armenia, Mehdi Sobhani, revealed that the North-South transport corridor passing through Armenia offers a shorter route to access the Black Sea. Construction work on this section, specifically in the Agarak-Kajaran area, has already commenced with significant budget allocation from the Armenian government. This development is perceived as a positive step by both countries.

The ongoing construction is just the initial phase, with plans for the construction of the Kajaran tunnel and the road connecting Kajaran to Sisian underway. These infrastructural improvements aim to enhance travel convenience in the region. Sobhani emphasized that while these motorways complement each other, they do not serve as substitutes.

Highlighting the efficiency of the route, he stated that the road through Armenia, passing through Georgia to the Black Sea, reduces travel duration significantly by two days. The collaborative efforts between Iran and Armenia in this strategic project are set to revolutionize connectivity and trade in the region.
