A bipartisan delegation from the United States visited Armenia, showing their support for the Armenian people. US Congressman Joe Wilson emphasized the unity between Republicans and Democrats in backing Armenia during a press conference with Armenian National Assembly speaker Alen Simonyan in Yerevan.
Wilson highlighted Armenia’s significance as a crucial partner for the US in the region, applauding its efforts to move closer to the West and reduce dependence on Russian influence. By deepening cooperation in defense and security, Armenia can resist external pressures effectively, contributing to regional and global security.
The delegation also called for Azerbaijan to hasten the peace process with Armenia and for Turkey to normalize relations with Armenia. Wilson acknowledged Azerbaijan’s utilization of oil and gas resources and Turkey’s NATO membership but emphasized the importance of fostering peace and cooperation in the region.
The visit underscored the US commitment to supporting Armenia’s democratic progress and strengthening bilateral ties for mutual benefit and regional stability.
