US approves sale of ATACMS missiles to Morocco

The U.S. Department of Defense has announced that Lockheed Martin has secured a contract to produce and supply Morocco with ATACMS tactical missiles to be used with the High Mobility Artillery Rocket System (HIMARS). The contract is valued at approximately $227 million and includes other countries like Estonia, Latvia, Poland, and Lithuania.

This deal, part of the Foreign Military Sales program for the fiscal year 2024, reinforces the Royal Armed Forces’ arsenal with surface-to-surface ballistic missiles capable of launching from both land and sea. Security experts highlight the precision and long-range strike capability of the ATACMS system, ensuring Morocco’s readiness to face various threats.

Lockheed Martin’s ATACMS missiles are known for their effectiveness in targeting ground objectives and have a history of success in conflicts worldwide. This latest agreement reflects the ongoing cooperation between Morocco and the United States in strengthening the kingdom’s defense capabilities.

With the approval of HIMARS systems earlier this year, Morocco continues to enhance its defensive response, showcasing its commitment to national security and strategic partnerships.
