Assassination Attempt on Slovak Prime Minister Declared Act of Terrorism
The General Prosecutor of Slovakia, Maroš Žilinka, has reclassified the recent assassination attempt on Prime Minister Robert Fico as an act of terrorism. The incident, which occurred on May 15, saw the Prime Minister narrowly escape death after being shot by 71-year-old writer Juraj Cintula outside a Cabinet meeting.
Following a careful examination of the evidence, Žilinka announced that the crime will now be treated as an extremely grave offense. Fico suffered severe injuries but was promptly taken to the hospital, while the perpetrator was apprehended and is now facing attempted murder charges.
