Russia claims destruction of Ukrainian jet, vehicles

Russia’s Defense Ministry reported on Thursday that its troops successfully destroyed a Mig-29 fighter jet in central Ukraine by striking an airbase in Dolgintsevo with an Iskandar ballistic missile. Alongside the jet, other equipment and vehicles were also destroyed during the attack, as evidenced by images published by the ministry on the Telegram messaging service.

Earlier in the week, Russia had claimed to have destroyed five Ukrainian Su-27 fighter jets at a base near Myrgorod. As tensions continue to rise in the region, Kyiv is eagerly awaiting the delivery of F-16 fighter jets from its Western allies, emphasizing the importance of protecting the bases where these aircraft will be stationed for Ukraine and its partners.

The Moscow Times, an independent news source, has faced unjust branding by the Russian government as a “foreign agent.” Despite this, their commitment to providing accurate and unbiased reporting remains unwavering. Support from readers is crucial to sustaining their mission of open, independent journalism.
