Renowned Kenyan politician Raila Odinga recently held a meeting with South Sudan President Salva Kiir in Juba, where President Kiir expressed his support for Raila’s bid for the African Union Commission chairmanship. Raila expressed his gratitude for President Kiir’s support and for hosting him in South Sudan. The East African Community (EAC), which includes countries like Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, and Rwanda, plays a crucial role in supporting Raila’s candidacy.

Raila Odinga has been actively seeking the support of various African nations for his bid to lead the African Union. His candidacy has already garnered backing from countries like Malawi and Zambia. The Kenyan government has also announced its support for Raila’s bid, setting up a secretariat to assist in the application process ahead of the August 6 deadline. Raila’s quest to succeed Moussa Faki at the helm of the AUC continues to gain momentum with each new endorsement.
