Morocco and EU partner for Higher Education program

In a groundbreaking partnership between Morocco and the European Union, a new program called ESRIM (Higher Education, Research, Innovation, and Mobility) was announced on July 3 by Minister Abdellatif Miraoui and EU Ambassador Patricia Llombart Cussac. This initiative, totaling 490 million dirhams, aims to enhance Moroccan universities and promote academic mobility with European institutions.

At a reception honoring 27 Moroccan recipients of Erasmus Mundus Joint Masters scholarships, both officials emphasized the importance of strengthening human capital and fostering international connections. Minister Miraoui highlighted the significance of collaboration under King Mohammed VI’s vision, while Ambassador Cussac praised Morocco’s commitment to internationalizing higher education.

With a focus on supporting doctoral student mobility, the program will provide 50.42 million dirhams for grants, encouraging academic and scientific exchanges between Moroccans and Europeans. Morocco’s active participation in the Erasmus Mundus program positions it as a key partner in enhancing education and research collaborations across Europe.

This partnership signifies a shared commitment to educational excellence and cross-cultural exchange, aligning with Morocco’s PACTE ESRI 2030 goals. As the second-largest partner country in the Erasmus Mundus program from the southern Mediterranean region, Morocco is poised to further its international influence in higher education and research.\
