French President Emmanuel Macron has urged Israeli leader Benjamin Netanyahu to prevent a “conflagration” between Israel and Hezbollah militants in Lebanon, emphasizing the need for a diplomatic solution to prevent escalating tensions. Macron expressed serious concern over the potential harm to both Lebanon and Israel if the situation intensifies.
The leaders discussed diplomatic efforts and ongoing conflict resolution initiatives, with the upcoming visit of U.S. envoy Amos Hochstein to Paris for further discussions. Macron highlighted the urgency of avoiding any new military operations in Gaza, urging Netanyahu to consider the humanitarian consequences.
In addition to addressing the Israel-Hezbollah situation, Macron and Netanyahu also touched upon recent developments in Iran’s nuclear program. France remains committed to pressuring Iran to fulfill its international obligations and cooperate with the International Atomic Energy Agency.
