Exciting news for the Falkland Islands Government as they embark on a 12-month trial period with a Low Earth Orbit (LEO) satellite for their IT department. The purpose is to explore if this satellite can support cloud-based systems, potentially modernizing their data storage systems.
The trial, approved by the Executive Council, aims to assess the capability of LEO satellite in enhancing government services such as healthcare. It is important to note that this pilot is not a replacement for the current Sure connectivity.
This initiative, under an exclusive license, exempts several government entities from specific licensing requirements, showcasing the commitment to enhancing communication in the region.
