The Dominican Republic Air Force is ramping up its intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance efforts along the border with Haiti in response to escalating tensions. Deploying advanced aircraft like the Dulus TP-75 Dulus and Tecnam P2006T, they operate daily from the Southern Air Command/Base Air in Barahona. President Luis Abinader’s government strategy to fortify border defenses includes equipping ground forces with new vehicles and equipment, such as URO Vamtac ST5 armored personnel carriers and drones. Additionally, six Huey II helicopters have been acquired for reconnaissance and tactical operations.

The Dulus TP-75, a training and patrol variant, features state-of-the-art avionics powered by a turbocharged Rotax 915 iS engine. With an impressive range and operational ceiling, the Dominican Air Force has acquired ten units of this model in 2022.

The P2006T, a twin-engine light aircraft, has been equipped with surveillance systems for enhanced intelligence operations.
Enhanced Ground Forces
The government has reinforced ground forces with new military vehicles and equipment, leveraging technology like high-definition cameras and satellite communication for efficient border management.
