Building owner facing prosecution for collapsed structure – LASG
Gbolahan Oki

The collapse of a two-storey building in Mushin has been attributed to the use of substandard materials by the Lagos State Building Control Agency’s General Manager, Gbolahan Oki. The owner will face prosecution for defying a stop-work order and breaking the government seal on the building.

LASEMA rescued seven individuals trapped in the building, with confirmation from Dr. Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu. LABSCA’s Olaoye Olusegun stated that substandard materials were used in the construction, despite the agency’s previous interventions.

Oki emphasized the importance of adhering to building regulations to avoid endangering lives and property. He commended the swift response of emergency responders and urged developers to obtain proper permits and supervision to prevent similar incidents in the future.
