New Delhi: A female employee of West Bengal Raj Bhavan has filed a plea in the Supreme Court regarding allegations of sexual harassment against Governor C V Ananda Bose. She seeks a direction for West Bengal police to investigate the claims and establish guidelines on the extent of immunity granted to constitutional figures under Article 361 of the Constitution.
Despite constitutional immunity, the petitioner argues that such powers cannot be absolute, allowing illegal acts by the Governor. The plea emphasizes that no person is above the law, and the Governor must not be permitted to infringe on fundamental rights through inappropriate conduct.
The petitioner also highlights instances of harassment by the Governor, including a complaint filed by another individual. The plea urges the court to examine the validity of actions under Article 361 and ensure justice for victims of sexual harassment.
