Witness: Dasuki gave Fayose N1.2bn to conceal source

The ongoing trial of former Ekiti State Governor Ayodele Fayose reached a new height as the 13th prosecution witness, Abubakar Madaki, revealed how the defendant received N1.2bn from former National Security Adviser Col. Sambo Dasuki to disguise the fund’s source. The EFCC re-arraigned Fayose and Spotless Investment Limited on charges of money laundering and stealing N6.9bn.

Former Minister of State for Defence Senator Musiliu Obanikoro testified that Dasuki instructed him to transfer N1.2 billion to Fayose from an account linked to Boko Haram. Despite Fayose’s claims that the money was a PDP campaign donation, investigations showed it was budgeted for security equipment.

During cross-examination, Madaki clarified the lack of relevant transactions when Fayose personally handled the fund. The trial continues with more witnesses and dates set for further proceedings, highlighting the intricacies of the case.

Stay tuned for updates on this high-profile corruption case as it unfolds in the Federal High Court, offering a glimpse into the complex world of financial misconduct and political intrigue.
