Ukraine stands firm in refusing to compromise with Russia and give up any territory to end the war, according to a senior Ukrainian official. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky’s chief of staff, Andriy Yermak, emphasized the importance of values like independence, freedom, democracy, territorial integrity, and sovereignty. Russia invaded Ukraine in February 2022, sparking a conflict that has drawn international attention.
Yermak’s recent visit to the United States coincided with the upcoming NATO summit, where Ukraine is expected to be a major topic of discussion. US presidential candidate Donald Trump claimed he could quickly resolve the war in Ukraine if re-elected in November, although the details of his plan remain unclear.
Despite uncertainty about Trump’s approach, Yermak expressed hope for continued support from the US, which has provided over $50 billion in military aid to Ukraine since 2022. With bipartisan backing in the US and widespread public support, Ukraine remains determined to uphold its sovereignty amid ongoing conflict.
