The Palestinian Islamic Jihad movement’s armed wing, Al Quds Brigades, revealed that some Israeli hostages attempted suicide in response to the treatment they received, mirroring the conditions of Palestinian prisoners in Israeli jails. The spokesperson for Al Quds Brigades, Abu Hamza, stated that the hostages were experiencing extreme frustration due to the neglect from their government.
The group vowed to continue treating Israeli captives the same way Israel treats Palestinian prisoners, although they did not specify the exact measures taken against the hostages. Meanwhile, ceasefire talks mediated by Arab countries, with the support of the United States, have not yet yielded results in Gaza.
Hamas demands a deal that includes a full Israeli withdrawal from Gaza, while Israel insists on temporary ceasefires until Hamas is eliminated. A potential agreement could involve the release of Israeli hostages in exchange for Palestinian prisoners held in Israeli jails.
