Two women and a Sassa official are set to appear in the Kgapane magistrate’s court for allegedly falsifying documents to receive disability grants. Mphekgwana Elisa Modjadji, Lefupane Mahloatlie Mamotome, and Malekutu Walter Ramoshaba were apprehended in Limpopo after Modjadji and Mamotome sought disability grants at the Bolobedu Sassa office in Kgapane. Despite not meeting the criteria, the individuals managed to get approval by altering the forms submitted. An observant capturing clerk alerted the Hawks serious corruption investigation unit, leading to the discovery that a Sassa employee had tampered with the documents.
The perpetrators are scheduled for a bail application on Thursday as the investigation continues. The incident serves as a reminder of the importance of remaining vigilant against fraudulent activities that can undermine the integrity of essential social services.
