Parliament scrutinizes conduct of city security agents

A section of TNLA lawmakers accused security personnel of abusing residents during inspections in Juba. SPLM-IO member Juma Zachariah Deng criticized the security forces for intimidating civilians, including diplomats, during night operations.

Deng condemned the forces for asking for bribes and termed their actions as barbaric. However, Nyan-Achiek Nhial defended the security personnel, stating they were maintaining security.

Speaker Jemma Nunu Kumba confirmed receiving multiple reports on the misconduct and directed the Committee for Public Order and Defense to investigate the issue.

The lawmakers expressed concern over the harassment of civilians and urged affected residents to file official complaints if they were robbed during the inspections.
